We finally opened the Gallery & Coffee Lounge on December 29th 2007!

Here are a few photos taken from beginning of September to end December 2007.

Framework finally underway.

This is East Wing containing the Office, Peter & Christine's quarters & large entertaining / soft craft area.

The section with no framework is where the Gallery will be located.

The roof / wall profile of the Gallery was inspired by Tamania's "Dismal Swamp".

Peter is building curved Tasmanian Oak beams for this section.

See the beam jig photos below.

Beam Jig showing the "top" straight section which is approx 5 metres long.
Beam Jig showing the curved section where the roof becomes a curved wall.
A close up showing one of the 30 clamps created by Peter to hold beam segments while glueing.
Each segment of the beam was precisely made according to one of 7 different shapes required.

The picture shows the 37+ segments of Tasmanian Oak glued & clamped in the jig. Each beam was left to cure like this for at least 48 hours.

After removal from the jig, the beams were cleaned of excess glue, sanded & finished with a long life timber finish.

Here are the 4 beams being fitted into place to form the Gallery space.

Outer cladding was shaped on site from heavy colorbond steel sheet.
The Gallery now with roof - awaiting finishing touches.
Interior lining for the Gallery awaiting finishing.
Gallery interior with some initial pieces on display.

Still to be done are light fittings, glass shelving on the walls & more stock!

Gallery in the foreground and next to it the Coffee Lounge (our own lounge room which we share with guests).

A guest commented that the vista was as great as the coffee!

The unusual architecture which greets you as you drive in the gate.
