Lots of Fun Stuff for Kids - young and old!


WOOL CRAFT
Using wool you will learn how to use three sticks to weave, create a beautiful “Ojo de Dios” or how to do finger knitting. Stick Weaving – you will make your own sticks, shaping, sanding and greasing them before you learn how to use them to weave a colourful belt. Ojo de Dios – using two craft sticks, you will be taught how to create a beautiful woven decoration that you can hang anywhere you like. Finger knitting – using your fingers for needles, you will learn how to make woven threads that can then be sewn together to make all kinds of objects. Class includes all necessary materials and instruction with a variety of colourful wools for you to choose. You can choose to do all three in one workshop of three hours, or just do one in an hour. 3 hour class costs $50 (which includes a light morning or afternoon tea) or each one hour class is $20.
FABRIC PAINTING
Using non-toxic fabric paints, you will create a random “tie-dyed” t-shirt. You will learn how to: Prepare the t-shirt for painting, Choose colours that go together Layer the paints onto the t-shirt, Prepare the t-shirt for drying in the sun, Create ‘hills and valleys’ by scrunching with your fingers, Finish the t-shirt after it is dry Class includes brightly coloured fabric paints available for you to use and instruction and includes a light morning or afternoon tea. You need to bring a white t-shirt to paint. 2 hour class costs $40.
CANDLE MAKING FOR KIDS
In this class, you will create a container candle. You will find out about different kinds of wax and different kinds of candles. You will learn how to: Handle hot wax carefully, Melt the wax, Set up a container candle, Add colour and aroma, Pour your candle Class includes all necessary materials including your choice of container, colour and essential oil for your candle and includes a light morning or afternoon tea. The candle you have made must not be moved for 24 hours so you need to collect it the next day or later. 1 ½ hour class costs $35
JUNIOR PAPER TOLE
You will be taught how to create an amazing 3-D picture using layers of paper. You will be taught how to: Cut or push out the pieces of picture necessary, Shape the pieces, Place the pieces into the correct places in the correct order, Sealing the background and then the completed picture Mounting the picture. The class includes all necessary materials (including a picture set of your choice), instruction and a light morning or afternoon tea. 2 ½ hour class costs $40
CROSS STITCH for KIDS
Using a very simple kit, you will learn how to create a beautiful picture using simple embroidered crosses. You will learn how to: Read the cross stitch chart, Find the centre of the pattern and the centre of your AIDA cloth, Sew a vertical and horizontal guideline through the centre of the cloth, Start the first line of crosses, Begin and end threads, Always sew the crosses in the right direction. The class includes all necessary materials (including a cross stitch kit of your choice), instruction and a light morning or afternoon tea. 3 hour class costs $60
PAPERCRAFT
A fun class, using paper, glue and paint to make a variety of different things! You will learn how to: Cut paper to create specific shapes, Fold paper to create objects Fold paper jets and fly them, Weave using paper, Make paper cut-outs. The class includes all necessary materials and instruction plus a light morning or afternoon tea. 2 hour class costs $32
